Enjoy a guided snowshoe trek on the Sandy Cope Trail, within the Gully Lake Wilderness Area. Participants will travel through a mature Acadian hardwood forest, beside Sandy Cope Lake, Donald's waterfalls, and past the Salmon River on a new hiking trail developed by the Cobequid Eco-Trails Society in cooperation with the Nova Scotia Department of Environment-Protected Areas Branch. The trail head is at Kemptown Road, near Earltown (N 45 32.336' W 063 06.843'). The snowshoe hikes will be of three levels: easy, moderate, and difficult and will last between 2 hours and 3 1/2 hours. Winter snow in the area is fairly reliable.
Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the 3 snowshoe hikes begin at 10 a.m. Bring snowshoes, water, snacks, any safety supplies, and proper winter attire. A nature and history interpretative map will be given out at registration.
There will be no snowshoe rentals at the event. Those wishing to obtain snowshoes should contact, well ahead, Hub Cycle 897-2482
