Colchester - Truro Bikeways Plan

What is the Bikeways Plan?

The Colchester - Truro Bikeways Plan will provide a variety of safe cycling routes, encourage a more active lifestyle, and provide transportation alternatives to the private automobile. The Bikeways Plan will create a network for residents to destinations for their daily life, leisure activities, daily commute, shopping and school.

As the network is developed, the intention is to plan mainly for bicycle travel, but with an overall focus on accommodating Active Transportation (AT) modes of travel. AT includes all non-motorized, human-based forms of transportation such as cycling, walking, in-line skating, cross-country skiing and so on.

Representatives from these organizations have formed the Colchester - Truro Active Transportation Steering Committee to initiate this project. The Committee retained the services of Hatch Mott MacDonald to develop the Bikeways Plan. The Committee appreciates the financial assistance received from Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection for this project.
