Clifton: Environmental (E-1) Zone

Floodway E-1 Zone

  • This is the base environmental zone that is applied to the low lying lands in Onslow and   Lower Truro, along the Cobequid Bay and Salmon River. 

  • Purpose of the zone is to prevent the structural development in areas prone to flooding.

  • The zone permits farming activities and other non-structural land uses.

  • When preparing a plan, it is a requirement under the Statements of Provincial Interest to identify areas of flood risk and set standards that restrict and protect development from flooding.
