District 1

District 1 is primarily a populous urban centre. This district includes the western and northern regions of the Village of Bible Hill and Brookside. 

This district is home to the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition and the Truro Raceway.  In addition to these, District 1 has strong commercial areas to compliment its residential neighbourhoods.

Boundary Description

Bounded on the north by the southern community boundaries of Upper Brookside and North River;

Bounded on the west by the eastern community boundary of North River.  The line continues west along the northern boundary of the Village of Bible Hill to the Salmon River.  The line then proceeds along the Salmon River;

Bounded on the south by the Salmon River until it intersects with a line that is an extension of the centreline of Hillside Avenue to the intersection of Pictou Road.  The boundary travels along the centreline of Pictou Road east to civic number 311.  The line then travels along the eastern property line of 311 Pictou Road and extends along that bearing to the northeast corner of lot 40 Oak Drive.  The line then proceeds across the Agri-Tech property opposite civic 117 Brookside Branch.  The boundary travels west along the centreline of Brookside Branch and extends past to the western community of Valley;

Bounded on the east by the western community boundary of Valley; and

Is comprised of a portion of the Communities of Brookside and Bible Hill.

District 1 is currently represented in Council by Christine Blair.
