Teams play 3 games consisting of 4 ends.

Have you ever wondered what our community could be like in the future if everyone worked on reducing their ecological footprint?  Can you imagine how our community might be different from how it is now? What kind of artwork would artists produce if they re-used materials that most people throw in the garbage once the material’s original purpose has been met?  Or what would artwork look like if artists restricted themselves to all-natural materials?  These are the questions that have been posed to members of the Truro Art Society, and they have been challenged to create artwork that answers those questions.

The results of their labours can be viewed at a group show called “Art for a Living Earth”.  It will be on display at the McCarthy Gallery, 36 Arthur Street, from Thursday February 2^nd through Tuesday March 27^th.  The opening of the show will take place on Tuesday February 7^th at 7 PM.  Everyone is welcome.

The Valentine Social for Colchester East Hants Retired Teachers Organization is being held at 6 PM on Wednesday, February 8th at the Best Western Glengarry in Truro. Call 897-4048 for tickets. Ticket sales end January 30th.

Ski Across Gully Lake Wilderness Area

Join a guide from Nova Scotia Environment for a gorgeous wilderness ski tour crossing of Gully Lake Wilderness Area. This physically demanding 10-12 km adventure is for seasoned cross-country skiers only. We will travel across a succession of hardwood hills and along the valley of Salmon River. Much of the route follows a new hiking trail developed by Cobequid Eco-Trails Society (CE-TS). The 3,810 hectare Gully Lake Wilderness Area protects the largest remaining patch of mature forest in the Pictou-Truro areas and was home to the Hermit of Gully Lake.
Suitable for experienced and fit adults and youth over 16. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and cross-country ski equipment. Please be sure to bring warm clothing, lunch, and water.
Pre-registration is required. Group size is limited.

Join the Colchester Historical Society for our annual open house which recognizes those who support history in Colchester County. There will be light refreshments and the presentation of Heritage Awards and Built Heritage Grants. You are welcome to wear heritage costumes.
