Feature Artists for April

Ann Connors

Throughout her life and has created unique designs for herself and others. Working under her mother’s tutelage she learned beading, embroidery, draping fabrics, and hand-finishing of garments for a design studio in Ontario.

These skills are incorporated into her jewellery. She picks up each bead individually weaving patterns and texture using a combination of colours, shapes and sizes. Each bead is positioned in her designs to flow, drape, and create colour effects.

She uses semiprecious stones, seed beads, crystals, wood, shell, pearls and sometimes found items to make her unique creations.

Marilyn Whalen

Marilyn Whalen - Farmer, Land and Community

Pat Whitehead

Pat Whitehead is a resident of Stewiacke and after retiring in 1999 she started painting with watercolours, switching to oils in 2005. Pat uses her love of photography to give her an endless supply of subject matter. She continues to take lessons, and is a Member of the East Hants Fine Art Association, and the newly elected Vice President of the Winding River Art Gallery in Stewiacke. She has shown her work at “A Place Near and Far Art Gallery”, Colchester Regional Hospital, and has won awards at the Annual Art Show in Milford. She now shows at the Winding River Art Gallery. One piece of her work hangs in a constituency office in Ottawa!
