Hike the Great Trail (Gully Lake)

Cobequid Eco-Trails Society invites you to hike The Great Trail! (Gully Lake Trail System)

The Great Trail, created by Trans Canada Trail and many partners began 25 years ago. It's 24,000 km of multi-use recreation trail is the longest network of its kind.

On August 26, 2017, Canada will be celebrating its grand opening!

Please join us to celebrate our section of the Great Trail: the Gully Lake Trail System!

All the trails are designated as part of The Great Trail.


Hike Option #1

Where: Meeting place is at the intersection of the Kemptown Road and Hwy 311 in Earltown.

Time: 9:15 am

Length: 18 km of wilderness trails

Hiking time: 6-7 hours

To pre-register: sgwilson53@hotmailcom or 902-895-2007

Must have: water, lunch, proper footwear, dress in layers, bug spray

We will park our cars at the meeting place and then travel 30 minutes to the Glen Road trailhead.
**You must pre-register so that we can arrange transportation to the Glen Road.**

We will start the hike on the Juniper Head Trail, then hike part of the Gully Lake Loop, the Willard Kitchener MacDonald Trail, part of the Sandy Cope Loop, to the Portage and Earltown Lakes Trail and finish at Hwy 311 where the cars are parked. All the trails are designated as part of The Great Trail.


Hike Option #2

Where: Meeting place is the trailhead at 734 Glen Road, Pictou County (off Route 4)

Time: 10:30 am

Length: 6 km or 12 km of wilderness trails

Hiking time: 3 hours for 6 km and 4.5 hours for 12 km

Must have: water, lunch, proper footwear, dress in layers, bug spray

The 6 km group will hike the Juniper Head Trail.

The 12 km group will hike the Juniper Head Trail and the Gully Lake Loop to Gully Lake and return.
