Provincial Volunteer Recognition Winner of 2025

On September 29th, 2025, The Province of Nova Scotia hosted the 51st Provincial Volunteer Awards at the Casino Nova Scotia, in both the Bruce Guthro Theatre and Compass Room.

Dick and Brenda McMullen are long-time residents of Londonderry and passionate community volunteers. Over the years, they have been deeply involved with the Londonderry Hall and were instrumental in organizing the first Londonderry Days, working alongside many others to bring the event to life. Since retiring, they’ve continued their commitment to community through the weekly Community Lunch program—providing meals, a welcoming space for social connection, and access to valuable health and wellness resources. Whether they’re cooking, cleaning, delivering Meals on Wheels, or simply offering a warm smile, Dick and Brenda are always lending a helping hand. Their efforts create a space where everyone feels welcome and supported. Their dedication, kindness, and community spirit truly help break down barriers and bring people together. Londonderry is stronger because of them.
