July 22, 2023. Stewiacke River Park river access structure (floating dock, ramp and stairs) near the main picnic shelter is out of service for the remainder of the 2023 park season.

Picnics and special use
You can reserve a picnic shelter at Stewiacke River Park for a picnic or special event. For more information, go to picnics and special use or or call 902-897-3185.
- Enjoy this natural, forested park with mature pine, hemlock and spruce trees.
- Picnic with family or friends under the large timberframe shelter or one of the covered picnic tables near the river.
- Walk two kilometers of trail along the river and through the forest. Benches are located along the trail.
- Young visitors can explore the playground.
- Relax in a hammock.
- Watch wildlife. Bald eagles are sometimes seen along the river.
- Access the river for canoeing, kayaking and fishing.
Know when you go
- 2023 Season: Open April 7 - October 9, daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Winter/off-season information: Parking is available at the entrance year-round. Walkers are welcome to use the park year-round, however, there is no winter maintenance of trails or picnic areas.
- Washrooms are open year-round.
- Free admission.
- Dogs must be kept on leash. Please clean up after your pet.
- The park has two wheelchair-accessible, composting toilets - one near the main picnic shelter, and one near the park entrance.
- Barbeques are available at the main picnic shelter and the back picnic area. You must bring your own charcoal briquettes.
- A small change house is located near the main picnic shelter.
- July 22, 2023: The floating dock with stairs and ramp access located near the main picnic shelter is out of service for the remainder of the 2023 park season. At the park entrance, you can access the river from the riverbank (no dock).
- Accessibility: Some of the park is wheelchair accessible, including the main picnic shelter, two toilets and the lower paths with a crushed gravel surface. The playground has WoodCarpet protective surfacing, a transfer station and ramps between decks. Please contact us for further information.
- Hunting is not allowed.
- Off-highway vehicles are not allowed on the trails.
- Alcohol is not allowed.
- Smoking and vaping are not allowed.

Approximately 10 km from Stewiacke, 14 km south of Brookfield, and 28 km south of Truro.
Directions from Truro/Brookfield
- take Highway 102 Exit 12 (Brookfield) to Route 2
- travel south on Route 2 approximately 7 km
- turn left onto Alton Road
- continue about 4 km
- turn left onto Stewiacke River Park Road
- continue about 2 km to the park
Directions from Halifax/Stewiacke
- take Highway 102 Exit 11 (Stewiacke) to Main Street (cross Route 2)
- travel through downtown Stewiacke (cross the railroad tracks) and veer left onto Main Street East (which becomes Cloverdale Road outside town limit)
- continue approximately 6 km to a stop sign
- turn left onto Alton Road
- continue about 2 km, then turn right onto Stewiacke River Park Road
- continue about 2 km to the park
